Volunteer

You have so much to offer the world!

Middle Earth welcomes volunteers to make a difference in the lives of youth in Somerset County. Your generosity will touch so many lives, set a good example of leadership, and create a healthy, supportive environment to improve the quality of life for our entire community.

If you are interested in volunteering, please send us your name and contact information in an email to office@middleearthnj.org.

Below are four different ways that you can get involved with Middle Earth:

Board Member

A nonprofit’s board members guide the organization’s mission and strategic planning, oversee finances and budget, ensure adequate resources, strengthen programs and services, and assess performance. From the nonprofit’s point of view, board members often offer technical and professional expertise that they cannot otherwise afford. From the board member’s point of view, they gain networking opportunities, valuable experience outside their normal duties to put on their resume, and the rewarding experience of helping the community.

Middle Earth is always seeking community members to volunteer as board members. These individuals need not have any volunteer or board experience, but must simply have the desire and commitment to invest themselves in an organization that supports young people. Board training is provided.

If you are interested in volunteering, please send us your information in an email to office@middleearthnj.org.

Guest Speaker

The youth at Middle Earth love when adults take time to share something with them. Whether you have a hobby to share, a class to teach, a career to explain, or a topic to discuss, we welcome you to come talk to our youth. Past volunteers have talked about computer skills, gardening, percussion instruments, cultures, safety, and careers – the possibilities for topics are endless!

If you are interested in sharing a topic with our youth, please send us your information in an email to office@middleearthnj.org.

One-Day Project

Middle Earth is always seeking ways to improve its facilities. Consider volunteering for a one-day improvement project! You or your group could help in any number of ways, such as:

  • painting,
  • adding a garden,
  • landscaping existing outside areas, or
  • repairing equipment.

Feel free to be creative and suggest new features that the youth might enjoy. One previous team installed a kitchen so that our youth could gain cooking skills and learn proper nutrition – this has been a huge hit with our teens! If you are interested in volunteering, please send us your information in an email to office@middleearthnj.org.
