Middle Earth’s Services

Middle Earth administers several different programs that serve approximately 1,500 youth annually from all over Somerset County, New Jersey.

While we have many programs at Middle Earth, we have one overarching principle: to guide youth towards responsible adulthood. Toward that end, every program at Middle Earth incorporates the following services:

  • community service (the opportunity to make a difference)
  • character development, such as:
    • respect for self and for others
    • responsibility and accountability
    • trustworthiness, honesty, and loyalty
    • leadership skills
    • anger management
    • refusal skills to combat peer pressure
    • gang prevention
    • substance abuse prevention
    • positive decision-making and problem-solving
  • life skills education, such as:
    • cooking and other independent living skills,
    • obtaining a driver’s license,
    • understanding budgeting and gaining financial literacy,
    • applying and interviewing for a job
  • crisis intervention (we help our youth when they are in need 24 hours a day)
  • information about and referral to other community programs that could be helpful
  • recreation/socialization with their peers
  • tutoring to improve academics
  • transportation to our centers or programming
