  • cultural and artistic opportunities (such as art, computer technology, science, home economics, and music),
  • educational field trips (such as museums, science centers, performing arts centers, and local historical sites),

As an additional service to our students enrolled in 21st CCLC, we host Family Reading Nights during the school year, in partnership with Literacy Volunteers of Somerset County. All of our afterschool families are invited to listen to a story, play a game or make a craft related to the story, and share dinner together. Students who attend receive a free book!

This fantastic program is made possible thanks to a generous donation from the Drew McLachlan Memorial Fund to honor Jan McLachlan who was a past Board President of Middle Earth and who had a passion for education, reading and helping youth. We are honored to be able to pay tribute to such a strong and valuable supporter of our work while providing Family Reading Nights to our afterschool students.
